ORAL HISTORY PROGRAM

Marines and Those Who Fought With Them: Tell Us Your Story!

The Marine Corps History Division’s Oral History Program is inviting Marine Corps veterans and those who fought alongside them to participate in the Division’s on-going Oral History Program.

The Marine Corps History Division’s Oral History Program has been conducting oral histories with Marines since the early 1960s. Benis Frank began the collection effort by interviewing and organizing a program that resulted in the collection, by field and base historians, of thousands of Vietnam oral history interview recordings. Mr. Frank continued to guide the program by organizing collection efforts throughout every major action by Marines as well as focusing on collecting a large amount of lengthy interviews with career Marines until his retirement in 1997. Over a dozen field historians have covered the Global War on Terrorism. These and others, who have signed on as field historians, have continued to the present. To add you voice to the Oral History Program, please visit the Marine Corps History Division web site at:
http://www.tecom.usmc.mil/HD/Contents/Oganization/Oral%20History.htm

Simply download the Marine Corps Biographical Data Sheet and return the completed form to the History Division. A History Division representative will contact you and may schedule a time (first Saturday of every month) to meet at the National Museum of the Marine Corps to conduct an oral history interview that will be archived into the official Marine Corps’ Oral History Collection.
