EXHIBIT MASTER PLAN

The exhibit master plan, once fully implemented, envisions a complete chronological presentation of Marine contributions to significant events in American history. Accordingly, a full complement of era galleries for the National Museum will be made available over time.

On opening day, the era galleries will include:

Uncommon Valor, 1940-1945:
Highlighting World War II and heroic efforts in the Pacific War, including Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Guam, the Marshall Islands, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.

Send in the Marines, 1946-1954:
Includes exhibitions and materials related to Marine participation in the Korean War.

Land, Air, and Sea, 1955-1974:
Moves forward into Vietnam and provides a detailed and objective understanding of the realities of that campaign.

Future era galleries will include:

Soldiers of the Sea, 1775-1846:
Examines the Revolutionary War, the Barbary Wars, the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars and other campaigns during the period.

From the Halls of Montezuma, 1846-1884:
Depicts Marines roles in the Mexican-American War, Civil War and other battles of the period.

First to Fight, 1884-1917:
Includes the Spanish American War in the Phillipines, the Boxer Rebellion, and other events of the period.

Every Marine a Rifleman, 1917-1919:
Portrays Belleau Wood, Mont Blanc and the battle at Argonne, among others.

Every Clime and Place, 1919-1941:
Spans little-known Marine service in Haiti, Nicaragua, China and Iceland.

We Make Marines, We Win Battles, 1975-Present:
Depicts Marine initiatives in Beirut, Panama, Desert Shield, Somalia and the Balkans.
